Outside Ontario, most privately operated casinos available to Canadian players hold a licence from the Kahnawake Gaming Commission. This page explains what that licence is, what it does and does not cover, and how to verify a certificate yourself rather than trusting a badge.

The Kahnawake Gaming Commission was established in 1996 and has regulated online gaming from the Mohawk Territory of Kahnawà:ke since 1999. It authorises operators, sets conditions on how they run their business, publishes information about its licensees and accepts player complaints against them.

What a Kahnawake licence is not: a provincial authorisation. The honest summary: if you live in Ontario, the registered market is the one built for you, and the register is easy to check. If you live elsewhere, a Kahnawake licence from an operator with a long track record and a verifiable certificate is the practical option, and the burden of checking sits with you.
Same brand, different site: where an operator runs both an Ontario site and a rest-of-Canada site, those are separate products under separate rules. A rest-of-Canada site is not an iGaming Ontario product, and its terms, payment options and protections can differ.

They serve different markets. An AGCO registration with an iGaming Ontario operating agreement gives Ontario players provincial oversight, a public register and provincial complaint escalation. A Kahnawake licence gives oversight from the Kahnawake Gaming Commission. What matters most in either case is that the claimed licence can be verified with the regulator.
Ontario players should choose an operator on the iGaming Ontario register, because that is the market built for Ontario and it carries Ontario’s protections. Never use a VPN or false location details to reach a site that is not registered for your province.
